Overview
Hey everyone, this is Lindi from Love Create Celebrate. Do you have any awkward nooks or corners that you just don’t know how to decorate? All homes have at least one!
Our home had a space upstairs overlooking the rest of the house that we usually referred to as the loft. The loft is open to the main living room and dining room, so there wasn’t much privacy, and it was an awkward shaped space that wrapped around an arched hallway opening.

Plan Your Space
We decided to use some of that space to create a cozy reading nook, which also meant we wanted to include some bookshelves and storage options too. The idea to build custom cabinets to fit the spaces around the arch, as well as some floating shelves to display books, was the perfect way to use that space and make it pretty (for those looking up from the main floor), and functional.
Step 1
Prime
We got to work transforming two identical IKEA dressers into custom cabinetry, and building our own floating shelves.
Step 2
Paint
All of these projects went so much faster thanks to our FLEXiO 3500 from Wagner! We used the FLEXiO 3500 to prime, paint, stain, and varnish on this makeover.
Step 3
Stain and Varnish
We used paint and primer to transform the IKEA dressers, and then used stain and varnish to finish our DIY wood countertops and floating shelves.
Step 4
Enjoy Your Space
